New chassis for the site logistics

Finsterwalder Transport & Logistik GmbH transports concrete elements with four trucks in shift work by order of Glass Bau GmbH, Mindelheim at the time of October 2014 until august 2015 from Türkheim to Karlsruhe

A 2,4 km long tunnel is built for the lay of the tram behind the surface of the Kaiserstreet. The beginning of the tunneling from Durlacher Tor with the tunnel boring machine “Guilia” is planned for October. Ten months until august 2015 are provided as time frame. Karlsruhe and the construction logistics experts installed web-cameras for a website where everyone can monitor the development of the site.

During the building time of ten months, 1032 rings are needed for the lining of the tunnel. Every ring consists of six segments and has to transport with two trucks because of the high weight. Here it is important that the trucks arrive at the same time.
The single weight of the load is 27 tons. These are 2064 single journeys from Türkheim to Karlsruhe. The six segments are numbered for one ring, so two trucks have to transport one ring together (every truck three segments). For the right building of the rings, every element has a bar-code.
Dachser Beton in Türkheim produces the concrete elements by order of Glass Bau GmbH Mindelheim. Stiegeler Ettringen develops subframes for the loading of the elements on the chassis.

Pfeiffer Seil- und Hebetechnik Memmingen develops a load securing certificate for the security of loads tested by TÜV. This company produces the securing equipment for these heavy parts, which Finsterwalder bought for the eight special chassis. The drivers always have to take the certificate and the weighing-document in his truck.
In order to handle these transports four trucks with eight 20 foot container-chassis drive to Karlsruhe. Finsterwalder bought the chassis specifically for this purpose.
Every truck has a telephone with GPS to ensure a smooth process and to control the trucks.
Before the arrival in Karlsruhe, the construction logistics experts check if the trucks can drive to the site or if they have to wait at Großmarkt for a view minutes.
Finsterwalder Türkheim is responsible for the central disposition for the complete transport handling.  These vehicles belong to Finsterwalder, Glass Bau GmbH and carriers from the region. These carriers are all specialized in transporting concrete elements.
