Finsterwalder Invests in Sustainability

5 LNG Trucks Put in Service

Finsterwalder - family of logistics sends a clear signal in favour of innovation and sustainability with its newest investment: In February 2021, five LNG trucks (Liqid Natural Gas = liquefied natural gas) were put in service at the site in Saxony-Anhalt.

The IVECO vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Additionally, new safety features, such as LED headlights, tire pressure indicators and axle load indicators are installed. The vehicles could even be registered for the transport of dangerous goods.

With their two large gas tanks, which can be refueled at any LNG station, the trucks can drive up to 1,500 km with one filling. The vehicles are used in a multi-shift system: during the day, the trucks are used for regional distribution in Saxony-Anhalt; at night, they are on the road for regular transports to Finsterwalder's partners (in southern Germany, the Ruhr region, northern Germany, and others). This way, a truck can achieve up to 200,000 kms driven per year.

With this investment of well over € 600,000, Finsterwalder intends to gain experience with LNG technology over the next few years, and identify other possible areas of application.

We wish all our drivers a good journey: accident-free and healthy!
