Following last year´s success at the Lions Charitiy Run from Stettin to Hamburg, Ludwig Schlereth from Halle, a member of “Lions” has decided to participate together with is polish club members at yet another Charity Run this year.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of the political changes of 1989 the idea of the Charity Run from Danzig, (City of the Solidarnosc Movement), to Berlin, (The Rise of the City and the fall of the wall), was born.
Cornelia Pieper, German Consul-General of Danzig, as well as Pawel Adamowicz, Lord Mayor of the City of Danzig will be taking part at the beginning of event which starts at the former Lenin Shipyards (now Gdansk Shipyards). The former Polish President Lech Walesa will launch the event.
On Wednesday morning the runners will take on the 621 kilometer course through many Polish towns  as well as the state of Brandenburg. After 9 days the event will end on the 3rd October at the historic Brandenburger Tor in Berlin, the symbol of the city´s division.
As the ambassador of Halle, Ludwig Schlereth would like to handout gifts to the mayors and representatives of the cities along the course, showing a symbolic contribution and to underline the friendship between Poland and Germany. For  this occasion a full truck load of culinary delights from around the country as well as donated gifts was sent. The company Finsterwalder sponsored this transport together with a fuel voucher and the marking.
