Finsterwalder to expand

Finsterwalder Transport & Logistik GmbH is in the process of extending its fleet by 28 percent through its investment in 100 new EEV-standard vehicles. By May 2011 the complete fleet will boast 230 units between its headquarters in Türkheim and its branches in Marl (Ruhr area) and Halle (Saale).

To provide freight capacity for excellent customer service, no mat-ter the market, this is the driving force behind the Allgäu-based transport and logistics service provider which is rejuvenating its fleet and extending it  to 230 units. With the 100 new commercial Volvo vehicles, 97 percent will comply with the strictest European emission standard, the EEV standard (Enhanced Environmentally friendly Vehicles) from May 2011 onwards. Twenty of the new articulated lorries are already in use, with the rest following over the next six months. Modern technology such as air-conditioned cabs, TomTom telematics and blind spot mirrors will facilitate the driver’s job. Additionally, all trailers with a built-in Joloda system for roll paper transportation fulfil customer-specific requirements. After its general decision in July to make a major investment, Finsterwalder increased its order from 60 to 100 units, thus establishing a strong foothold in the volatile freight capacity market. "Our solid financial base enables us to benefit from a low-priced package deal, as compared to a leasing solution", explains Klaus Finsterwalder, managing partner. This is his expansion strategy of a balanced mix of company-owned and external vehicles for transporting general cargo, part loads and full loads.
