Finsterwalder and Public Utilities Working Together to Help Ukraine

Operation of a furniture collection point for refugees in Halle on the Saale

Stadtwerke Halle GmbH and Finsterwalder Transport und Logistik GmbH are helping refugees from Ukraine. A new jointly operated furniture collection point is now up and running on the premises of Finsterwalder in Halle on the Saale - Delitzscher Straße 72.

Numerous Ukrainian refugees are housed in an emergency shelter in Halle on the Saale. The aim is to accommodate them in proper apartments soon. The city of Halle has apartments available, but these are mostly empty, without any furniture.

For this reason, the city of Halle is calling on its residents and businesses to donate furniture and household items for Ukrainian refugees. The donations will be used to furnish apartments for the refugees asap.

Mayor Egbert Geier comments: “The people from Ukraine who have sought refuge with us, often women and children, need our help. The city's goal is to quickly take them in and provide them with the best possible accommodation we can offer them. This entails the speedy assignment of each to an apartment of their own. With this appeal for donations, the city is counting on the wonderful support of the many committed citizens of Halle as well as companies and associations. Without their help and commitment, the excellent achievements thus far would not have been possible. Many thanks for this.”

“As for the implementation and organisation of the current fundraising campaign, I would especially like to thank Finsterwalder Transport und Logistik GmbH as well as Stadtwerke Halle GmbH, who have provided us with extensive logistical support,” continues Mayor Egbert Geier.

Finsterwalder Transport und Logistik GmbH provides all needed storage space free of charge. The Hallesche Wasser und Stadtwirtschaft GmbH (HWS), which is part of the Public Utilities, oversees receiving and handling the furniture and making it available to the city.
