Around 100 invited guests attended the cooperation forum's event at the Swabia Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Schwaben) in Augsburg after having enjoyed a tour through the Augsburg freight services centre and a company tour at MAN Diesel SE. The central question was: What factors make logistics sites in Bavaria attractive? In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Josef Nassauer, managing director of the Bayern Innovativ GmbH, listed the most important cornerstones: transport connections, infrastructure, sustainability, sales and procurement markets, space availability, 24-hour operation and labour force potential. Alexander Nehm of Fraunhofer Institut SCS Nuremberg demonstrated how these location characteristics could be measured on an index of 20 factors for logistics attractiveness and intensity. He produced research results showing which areas in Germany offer ideal settings for logistics investments and which areas have the highest concentration of logistics businesses. According to his criteria, the Swabia region is a hidden champion, ranging amongst Germany's top 18 logistics centres. These results confirm the Businesspark A96 near Türkheim as a future-oriented location. Multifunctional warehouses and offices with a CO2-neutral wood chip heating system, conveniently situated with direct access to the motorway, its own railway terminal and in close vicinity to Memmingen airport, offer 50,000 square meters of space for warehousing, logistics, production, development and assembly. Performance is high due to its 24-hour operation, low commercial tax rates, and proximity to the Munich and Augsburg conurbations. For further information, visit www.businesspark-A96.de.
