Finsterwalder invests in service

Finsterwalder is proud to present its brand-new, information-filled web site. Rather than "About us", its motto now reads, "For you". The Türkheim (Allgäu)-based family business outlines the ways in which it is able to tailor-make solutions to its customers’ needs, and therefore highlights its cutting-edge position in the logistics market. Finsterwalder’s goal is clear: to satisfy its customers from day one.

When Finsterwalder first contacted internet specialist, Teamblau, from Bolzano in South Tyrol (Italy), they asked for a modern, straightforward web design with a customer- and service-oriented sales approach. The result is what you see today: a completely re-worked web site at www.finsterwalder.com. The site provides an overview of the entire Finsterwalder Group, its services as well as plenty of helpful service information, such as a Europe-wide public holiday calendar and a European driving restrictions schedule.

Straight to the point. "An authentic and realistic image of our business is our personal approach to the customer." That's how Sebastian Schneider, head of marketing and logistics at the Türkheim headquarters, describes his strategy of seeking out and retaining customers. In a mere three clicks, visitors to the Finsterwalder web site can obtain key figures and needs-oriented information regarding core competencies and industry solutions. They need only to navigate through the "company", "services", "customer service", "service information" and "job centre" sections. Furthermore, not only does the web site showcase a wide range of logistics solutions, it also illustrates how the enterprise co-operates with its clients from trade and industry via an impressive service portfolio which exceeds mere transport logistics. The home page is where it all starts, providing news and current topics relating to the company. On all other pages, the four pillars of transport, logistics, warehouse management and Railport are displayed on the left-hand side of the page; as fixed graphic navigation points, they provide easy orientation for the visitor. At the bottom of each page, the online visitor will find Finsterwalder’s contact details or a quick path to the informative customer service centre.

Transparent structure. In the "company" area, Finsterwalder elaborates on its history and its goal-attaining philosophy detailing as well its safety and quality standards, including its certifications. An overview of key data and an introduction to the management team tops off the site. In the "services" section, the e-visitor will find the company's core competencies: transport, logistics, warehouse management and Railport. The "transport" tab leads to a description of the company's Europe-wide service capability for full, part and unit loads, as a CargoLine network partner, as well as special goods transportation. The "logistics" tab delivers process-oriented solutions for automotive suppliers and the chemical industry as well as for the distribution of goods. The "warehouse management" menu item illustrates Finsterwalder's industry-specific provision of warehousing space and services. Dates and facts about open-air storage and special warehousing space (with specific equipment for handling, amongst others, heavy, hazardous or sensitive goods) show the manifold storage opportunities offered by Finsterwalder. The fourth module, "Railport", describes central Germany’s goods hub. At its Halle/Saale site, Finsterwalder operates a German railways Railport for handling goods, including storage space at the interface between rail and road.

Seeking and retaining customers. The customer service centre is the main point of entry for visitors, where they can find simple online forms for giving feedback, requesting quotes, placing unit load orders as well as accessing the tracking and tracing goods system through the CargoLine network. Under the "service information" tab, the “downloads” page offers a multitude of practical documents which facilitate co-operation from the outset. There are also links to the most important information portals concerning the surroundings of the various Finsterwalder sites and the greater logistics industry. A glossary provides background information on the basic terminology of logistics. Additional services such as a European public holiday calendar and a Europe-wide driving restrictions schedule provide important information to facilitate a smooth flow of transportation. Answers to any remaining questions can be found either in the FAQ section or, of course, through personal contact with the company– an absolutely essential part of the Finsterwalder philosophy. For this, the company has qualified personnel on staff at all levels of the business. It's with this claim that the "job centre" explains what it is like to work for Finsterwalder, lists open positions and provides contact details for individual inquiries. "With its wide range of information and services, our new web site paves the way to keeping our customers satisfied." This quote from Klaus Finsterwalder, managing director of the Finsterwalder Group, sums up exactly why the group chose to invest in a new web site.
